The 13th Cambodian Crusade for Jesus
Come and celebrate! (Mirk Yioung Up Er Sato in Khmer) This was the worship song sang by Khmer evangelizing praise team EFC during the 1st Crusade. Even after over 10 years we still feel so exciting and joyful when we think of the very first crusade held in the Kampong Cham City in ¡®97. All crusade participants from the States, who prepared for this event with earnest and sincere prayers for whole year, shed tears with deep thankfulness to the Lord Jesus for His keeping remnants of believers in Cambodia even after long years of life ravaging civil war. Among peoples deeply fallen with idolatry throughout its history, out of them the Lord Jesus reserved small number of His followers¡ªall whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouth s have not kissed him, over which we¡¯re so joyful. Though from nearby regions we constantly heard gun shots sound, Khmer Rouges¡¯ threat and activities, all crusade participants boldly praised the Lord with top of voice and shared the gospel of salvation to anyone encountered in the streets with ardent heart. Year after year since ¡¯97, we had traveled around the country to praise, worship the Lord Jesus, true living God and Creator of all, and preached the gospel, declaring He is only way to salvation. From the 11th Crusade, in the soccer field of El Shaddai Bible College all the students of the BFS and Bethel Middle/High School with teachers and staff gathered to worship and praise God, while sharing good news with many spectators to ball games (for the crusade all the schools are in recess during the last week of Dec). Seeking His Spirit¡¯s lead for this year¡¯s crusade theme, we¡¯re led to: Jesus is the Light of Life. We¡¯re so awe-stricken and thrilled to be reminded that the Holy Spirit gives us the message we need to tell Cambodians; people in darkness need Jesus Christ for salvation and fruitful life. Indeed as the Lord Himself said, His Spirit teaches and reminds us of everything He said to His disciples (John 14:26). We worship and praise Jesus, who gave up His life in order to save the world in darkness of death because of sins, and more than ever determined to become His witness during the Crusade and beyond (1 Peter 2:9).

Even though Cambodia had been recently transformed from communist regime to free democratic country, since its national religion is Buddhism by constitution, it exercises much restrictions on Christian activities (street evangelism and house-to-house visiting, public preaching banned by law). The Central Government (Min of Religion) asks excessive church registration fee for assembly (most of churches are not self-supportive) and tries to unify all Christian denominations and control, and thus cultic activities are so rampant. On top of this, corruption and injustice in government are nationwide. As it gradually gains economic progress (though mostly in big cities), its people pursue gratification of flesh, spending on earthly things more physically, not paying attention on spiritual welfare. Therefore, in the time of whole country in deep darkness and evangelizing is slow, it¡¯s so perfectly timely appropriate that we proclaim that Jesus is the ¡®Light of Life¡¯ and whoever believes Him as the Lord and Savior shall have new life as a free gift.

Thirteen years ago, many children of active lepers in the Trang Village heard first time the Name of Christ Jesus, who overcome death¡¯ authority and resurrect, and became pupils of the Bright Future Christian Elementary School (BFS). Since then, many have moved up to the Bethel Middle and High School, and grown to become evangelists, future missionaries and pastors, or spiritual leaders by His grace. Many of them, during the Crusade, will glorify God by praise and body-worship. What a change by His grace! We believe that Cambodia would become Jesus¡¯ stronghold, and from here many would go out to preach to the unreached peoples to fulfill His ¡®Great Commission¡¯ (Matthew 24:14, 28:18-20).

O Lord, Come quickly! Marana tha!

Please pray that: (a) We¡¯ve been praying for a long time that we would start world missionary training school in the Bethel Institute, and we¡¯re about to start its construction (school classrooms and housing; first phase, 3 units, each unit with one classroom and 4 studios, 28m x 8m, costs about $50,000). Please pray that the Lord Jesus would provide us with good instructors and needed finance. (b) Pray for the Crusade participants (evangelists, praise and worship team, preachers, etc) for their spiritual strength and dedication.

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever. Psalm 118:1

Hallelujah! Greetings in His precious Name of our good Lord and Savior Christ Jesus to all world mission coworkers. May His abundant grace and peace be unto all of you for ever and ever!

With theme ¡®Rejoice in the Lord always.¡¯ fruitfully and beautifully has finished the 12th Cambodian Crusade for Jesus. We¡¯re so grateful to the Lord for His leading us to do crusade in His Name to the glory of God. During four days at the soccer filed of the Bethel Institute campus located in the Kampong Cham Province, about 110 km from Phnom Penh, the good news of salvation of our Lord Jesus was proclaimed and many who heard the message received Him as the Lord and Savior. This Crusade was planned and operated entirely by Khmer coworkers, students of El Shaddai Bible College, teachers of the Bright Future Christian Elementary School and Bethel Middle School. We missionaries witnessed indeed that our God is not so unjust that He would not forget our hard work and labor in educating, training and serving His peoples over many years (Heb 6:10).

All of our praise worship team members along with crusade participants from the States and Korea boldly shared the gospel to spectators, who came to watch soccer games played by teams from 10 different villages. Everyday during intermissions of games over thousand peoples came and heard the gospel, and many of them responded to the call of receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Especially really are we so thankful that many players genuinely went forward to pray and receive Jesus Christ to be saved. This again in turn convicted us with His word; I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go (Isaiah 48:17). In the midst of Cambodian Government¡¯s new religious law, which prohibits entirely open public evangelism activity, we sought after His wisdom and guidance how we could witness our Lord Christ Jesus and present His gospel to general public. Hosting soccer teams from villages and using these games as opportunity of mobilizing peoples sharing the gospel to them was His answer to our prayer, and indeed worked so beautifully. We offered rice harvested from our field as prize (our HMI team finished 3rd surprisingly!) and introduced many to the Lord and His gospel, and to our Christian schools. We praise and thank Jehovah God, who opened the door to salvation for many. Yes! He is such a good God that His love endures forever. Let us adore and praise Him! Come, O Lord! Marana tha!

Please pray that:
*In Cambodia, (a) We need self sustaining and supporting to operate schools through worldwide economic hard times. Currently over 500 peoples living in community, we need to produce enough rice, veggies, meat and fish to feed them.
Please pray that we could run good fish, duck and chicken farms, and build good size reservoir to supply enough water to rice field. Also pray that the Lord would give us wisdom to start income generating business in our capacity to meet finance needed to operate schools (every year over 250 new students and staff are coming in during 7-yr Josiah Project). (b) Construction of two churches, one for the New Life Church of the Hansen session (sponsored by old Hansen elder in Korea) and the other for the Prey Chakrey Village (financed by the Bethany UMC in NJ), will be starting soon. Please pray that these churches could be used as evangelizing centers for the villages. Pray that the Lord Jesus would bless all El Shaddai Bible College students, who serve local churches and teach the Bible to young students of the BFS and Bethel Middle School, and for their spiritual wisdom and dedication to Him and His works.

*In Central Asia, (a) Please pray for spiritual and physical strength for missionary family working in Country A, which becomes so dangerous nowadays. (b) In Country U, we need English and math teachers for the MK school. Please pray that the Lord would provide them soon. (c) In the refuge camp of peoples from Country A in Country T, our teachers¡¯ (all are able to speak their language) strength and financial needs in order to continue to stay and teach, and prepare to go to Country A when the traveling ban is lifted. Persecution toward Christians would be stopped, and better environment to evangelize be given. Please pray for these and more Christian workers could be found and sent out as well.

Aug 2008 Prayer Subject
Hallelujah!
Greetings to all world mission coworkers: Please pray with us for the world missions.

Please pray for the following:

For Cambodia (a) For the Bethel Institute (El Shaddai Bible College & Academy, and College of Education), we start selecting students. Please pray that the Lord would send us faithful students so that we train them to be good disciples of the Lord Jesus to be evangelists, church planters, pastors, missionaries, and scholl teachers, who could do campus missions toward the young. We expect to choose about 60 students. Also the HMIC selects 50 pupils for the Bright Future Elementary School and 40 for Bethel Junior High School. We hope we educate and train them to be good disciples of Jesus and spiritual leaders of the country in the future. Please pray for this and the Lord would provide us with needed finances to house, clothe and fee them. Also we should choose good and faithful Bible instructors (Khmer and foreign) and professors for the College of Education, and teachers for the BJHS and BFS. Please pray that the Lord would give us wisdom in selection process.

(b) The Bethel Junior High School under construction is facing financial difficulties because of high construction materials cost in recent months, and the HMIC owes about $140,000 to its builder until Oct 15 for payoff. Please pray for this.

(c) In Septerber 1 - 5, the ESBC will have spiritual retreat, organized by Evangelist Pisa and other speaker. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would lead Bible College students to be open to the word of God preached and dedicate themselves to His mission. Also there will be spiritual gathering for all teachers and staffs of the schools during September 16 - 18, preached by Pastor Nam from the States. During this spiritual retreat, we pray that all workers would rededicate themselves to the Lord and His mission, and we humbly ask you to pray for this.

For Central Asia, (a) Soon the HMI will send two additional missionaries to Country T. They will work at refuge camp school (from Country A) to teach English and computer. Please pray for their needed finance ($1,000/mo for room and board and ministries). In due time, when the Country A opens, they will enter there to resume missions again. Please pray that the Lord would open the door to Country A for evangelism and missions sooner than later.

(b) Please pray for Missionary P and his wife in Country A for their safety and missions. Constantly there is much danger from nearby terrorist group and persecution on Christian mission. Please pray for the Lord's intervention.

Pleae pray for HMICambodia missions.
Please pray for the following - Cambodia

The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent. (Joshua 6:17)

With shout of the Israelites toppled down was the City Jericho and that day was the day of judgment for its residents. It is God's righteous judgment. Since for Israelites, who were to live separated lives in the promised land, should be untied from ill influence of Pagans in neighbor, all in the City, except Rahab and her family, were to be devoted to the LORD. Let us pray that, as His chosen people, in order to be clothed with His holiness, inspect what we ought to devote to the Lord and give up, and obey to His commands.

Praise the Lord! All the school operation works and church ministries are handled by indigenous Khmer coworkers. Please pray for them, though lacking in experiences and immature in faith, so that the Holy Spirit would pour wisdom and authority on them when they act honestly and earnestly with faith in their works. Especially we pray that the Bethel Mission Center would become central in youth ministries. Please pray for Pastor Pisa, who is to be in charge of developing youth ministries, for being anointed by the Holy Spirit to serve humbly with spiritual authority. Please pray The Lord would send more coworkers (currently 3 assist him) for evangelizing toward young peoples in Prey Chhor District, KPC Province.

Please pray that the Bethel Institute and its Bible College would become cradle to raise evangelists and missionaries to spread the gospel not only in Cambodia but also in neighboring countries. We pray that the Lord would send more god-fearing young peoples to be trained here. we also need more evangelical and faithful Bible instructors, who could teach students and show them by good examples as disciples.
Also pray for the graduates from the Bible College for their ministries in the harvest fields, church planting and serving churches.
